I'm confused....

How is this "tax rebate" supposed to stimulate *anything*? You are basically giving me *my* money back early. And I don't get that much back anyway---I get about $200 back a year. Which is fine, but I usually file in January anyway so it's not like I'm really getting anything rebated when we normally file our taxes this time of year anyway...I just don't get it. Do you? Is "rebate" not the right word for this? Is this really a "gift" from the federal government? And how is this supposed to stimulate the economy if people pay off debt with it? That money has already been spent....

On the upside---tonight is the *last* SOTU Bush will ever give.

That? That's *priceless*....

:D

On that note, why do so many people salivate over a huge income tax refund? Isn't that just an interest-free loan to the IRS?

This country is fucking crazy. I hope something significant and not-depressing happens soon.

Yip! Which is why I claim 0 dependents and get back very little money. I'd rather not let the government be my savings account. I'll take it all up front, please....

As for significant and not-depressing, maybe Super Tuesday? We can always hope....
